About Us

Perceptual Art accommodates to individual needs to get a personalized experience. ****Perceptual is defined as "relating to the ability to interpret or become aware of something through senses" **** Whether you're going through a rough time in your life, have ruminating thoughts, or feel like you need to express yourself, we can help percepualize through art based on prompts and guidance.

How does creating art help mentally heal?

Activities that are tactile and activate our senses, like clay or painting, help relax our body. Creating provides a distraction from our thoughts or provides an alternate outlet to express them. The average person has 60,000 thoughts a day, that can be a lot to hold in your mind.

At perceptual art, we want to help ease your mind with creating. The lead Expressive Art Certified teacher will guide you, or a group starting with a prompt and incorporating DBT skills. You will have time to create while being mindful of thoughts and current emotions. If in a group setting you will have a chance to explore your art with the rest of the group.  Why DBT?

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)  was developed by Marsha Linehan to help people increase their emotional and cognitive regulation by learning about the triggers that lead to reactive states and helping to assess which coping skills to apply in the sequence of events, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to help avoid undesired reactions.
